Linux
My Linux Journey
Like most, I started out my adventure in Linux with Ubuntu. Over the years I began to notice a shift within Canonical and how it was approaching package management. I value the open source nature of Linux and this shift was trending away from that so with that I migrated to Fedora from RedHat. I really like Fedora especially paired with KDE. I found the most recent versions of KDE to be very feature-rich and have seamless integration with Fedora.
However, my most recent turn in my Linux journey is taking on the “beast” that is Arch Linux. I recently installed it on my Lenovo ThinkPad and outside of an initial configuration issue with the GRUB bootloader I found the install to be relatively painless (I have not setup LUKS yet and hear that my opinion on this process will change with that, so stay tuned on that front). With Arch installed I initially went with KDE as the desktop environment but figured this might finally be the time to switch to what all the cool kids use, a tiling manager. I elected to go with Hyprland and I am still in the early phases of setup. It is in a semi working state and I can tell this is going to be a similar learning curve as I had with Emacs but look forward to the efficiency of not having to take hands off keyboard just like I get with Emacs.
